Darn it
What else is new? My cousin Carl (Frans son) is coming over in the beginning of december. Looking forward to that very much! (Im not just saying that cause you read my blog Carl!).
Went to X Wray cafe again yesterday evening and fell in love for half an hour, not with swedish man.
Yesterday I was having coffe at Aubs with Des and a man came past on his bike, stopped, and then barked at Des..
Oh yeah haha last night me and Fran went wild with "the teeth" again. For those of you who don't know about "the teeth", you will find out sooner or later :) I just still haven't come round to putting in to words the story of "the teeth". Anyway we took some great pics but Fran would have my head of if I put them up here so just tell me if you want to see them and I will try and email a few descent ones around.
Also completed my RSA course (Responsible service of alcohol). 98% accuracy on the first go thank you very much. It's just something I need to have at work. It's got questions in it about how to know when someone is drunk and how much alcohol there is in a beer.
It's funny with the ozzie language because they are not so fancy-schmansy anywhere when they write or talk, I soppose one could say they are quite informal. In this very serious test, they would sometimes use expressions like "Getting rat-ars pissed".
Also, when they talked about knowing when someone is drunk, some of the examples that one should look out for when working in a bar is people who are:
- Vomiting
-Dancing on the tables
-Sexually harassing people around them
-Falling over
-Not beeing able to speak properly
and so on..
I mean come on, the person has clearly been over served long before he or she started to vomit at the bar for heavens sake..
Words worth thinking about
They lie awake at night and dream of you
I bet you never even know they do, but somebody's crying
I know somebody and they called your name
A million times and still you never came
They go on loving you just the same, I know that somebody's trying.
These lyrics are from a song called somebodys crying by Chris Isaak, a musician that I have just discovered. This song was one of Zaras personal favourites.
Winds of change
We have converted to the jewish faith
The rainforest that covered Frans garden has dissapeared
And the dog is now completely stripped due to a very bad trimmer.
Nice weekend
Had a nice weekend actually, went to the beach today and did some gardening with Fran yesterday.
Now I am of to work..
Brand new day
Every day is brand new, isn't that exciting? Hope all my lovely (ten on a good day) readers are feeling well.
I myself, well I am feeling a little bit bored. I have come in to a fase where I am very curious about what is going on back home. Not good. I don't want that. I am meeting people at work and stuff but now I am not working very much at all.. So during non-working days, I tend to just hang around with the dog. And don't get me wrong, Desi is great, but she doesn't allways give me the feedback that I would like to get when I talk to her.
Oh well, sooner or later things will go my way allso socially. I've just got to hang in there. And I am very glad that I am here :)
The Knife
Last time me and Fran went to the xwray cafe, Fran told me that someone working in the cafe was swedish. Just as she told me that, a guy entered from the kitchen who looked exceptionally swedish. He was really tall, very skinny, pale and he had a typical swedish something about the way he was dressed. So I said to Fran "That's him, he is swedish" and Fran totally agreed with me and replied; "Yeah, Yeah thats him yeah, he is the swedish guy". I can even recall that night as we were leaving the cafe, Fran went past this poor guy and exclaimed:
"HEJ DAAAAAAA" really loud (swedish for good bye).
So naturally, when I hear that The Knife are playing on a blasting volume in the cafe on monday night I assume that the swedish guy has put them on because I had no idea they were known by anyone in Australia. As we go up to the bar to order our food I can see him allready, standing at the bar, my lovely new friend from sweden who loves The Knife just like me. I ask his colleague who is allso at the bar: "Is this by any chance The Knife that you are playing this evening?" he gives me a blank stare, then listens intensively for about five seconds and replies: "Well yes it appears to be so" in a strange sort of way.
I then turn to the guy whom I am now sure is swedish and blurt out (fortunatley in english) "So you are swedish then?". Lord I tell you, if I got a blank stare by his colleague then that is nothing compared to what he himself is giving me. I might aswell have said to him something like "So, you are obviously from Africa then since you are completley pale?". He allmost got offended by what I asked actually. "No" Was of course his reply. And I felt so stupid. But he didn't understand how much thought I had put in to that question!
Anyway my point is, I was so sure he was swedish when he so clearly wasn't. And that made me a bit sad. Because I have allways been good at spotting out the swedes when I have been abroad. And now my magic touch seems to have dissapered like the wind ...
This is The Knife by the way if you want to listen:

Loving things about ozzie today:
- The bus around Fremantle is free, and it runs every ten minutes.
- Loads of interesting insects in my bathroom as we speak. (Olivia, just so you know I should have warned you)
Well well well
No rest for the wicked
So what's new in my ozzie-life? The weather is now becoming very good. On saturday we had 37 degrees celsius, that was blooming hot I can tell you. Especially to work in.
I had my first swedish customers at restaurant on saturday night. It is so strange to talk swedish when it's been so long since I have done it. When you are saying the swedish words you sort of keep having to take a pause and reflect upon what you are saying. Sometimes I pronounce the words wrong and sometimes I find myself thinking "God, I have never thought about it before but this swedish word is really strange!" haha. Writing in swedish is not a problem, I do that a few times a week but talking is becoming weird, it was the same for me when I lived in france.
I have decided to make a list, every time I write in the blog, I have to put down at least two things that I am loving about my new ozzie-life.
So what am I absolutley loving right now?
- One of the things that I am loving about Fremantle right now is that everyday I am meeting people from all over the world. I am working with at least four different nationalities every day, and it feels so cool! It feels as if I am finally out in the world meeting real people from places like Canada, India, Peru and so on. And we are all working together, combining our cultures and values and it's just awesome every time I think about it.
-Another thing that I am loving right now is the people in Freo. Allways so polite and outgoing. It really is an enourmous difference from sweden and at first the outgoingness of people really freaked me out, I got really shy and felt as if I didn't have anything to reply and stuff. But now I am really getting in to it (being really outgoing) and it's so much fun! In sweden I was considered so outgoing and cheerfull at work and school but I am no match compared to the ozzie-people. That sort of gives the people who know me an idea of how great it is over here.
Taking a blogbreak
Julie Andrews night out
The hills are alive.. With a sound of muuuusssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiic
Im fab!
Well I don't know!!
So here I am, starting another day in Freo. Today I am working, I like that I think it's going to be a nice day. Then this evening I am going out, but unfortunatley I am working again, tomorrow morning so I can't be out for long. But still, could be fun tonight.
I miss my friends today. Yesterday I was watching some films on my computer of when me and two very close friends from school went riding on a horse that I took care of during spring this year. It was so strange to hear their voices and to see them. Funny aswell since it was a great day out, but weird..
It's strange because it makes you wonder why you feel the need to travel to other places when really you have got everything you need at home. But for me, it was just a feeling that wouldn't let go, a feeling to go out in the world and do something while you can. Life just goes so quick, teenage years lasted forever, but as I am getting older I am starting to realise that time really does fly, and that before you know it, you might be at a space in your life where it's too late to travel or you just can't do it because of other responsabilites. Travelling is good allso because you learn to appreciate what you have allready got at home, like the friends that are still back home, you miss them a lot and you realise how much you like them. But most of all, travelling is a great way to get to know yourself, who you are and what you want to do with your life. Getting out of a comfortzone is just about the best thing to do if you want to push your limits in order to get to know yourself.
There you go. Now go out and explore the world and I'll see you later :)
Addictive song
I usually don't like Mariah Carey at all. But this song is so beautiful originally and she has really made it even more beautiful (if possible) :)
Frans B-day
Then in the evening we went out for dinner with one of Frans friends. We had a great night and Fran is happy.
Me and Fran.
Happy birthday Fran, Love you too bits!
Im back!
So what's happening this week? Well on wednesday it's auntys birthday :) So we are going out for dinner. And then on saturday night me, fran and some of her friends are going to the theater to a Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins, Sound of music) singalong, hahahah. I think it's going to be a really great night out.
On Friday I am going to see a band perform in Fremantle. Looking forward to that :)
Otherwise I will be working, not as much as last week though thankfully. But it's going well I am really enjoying it, allthough it is hard work. We are becoming more and more employees all the time wich is good. That was what I was hoping was going to happen.
Not long left now until my Exmouth trip is coming up, I am so looking forward to that like never before! The dolphins, the beaches, everything!
I will leave you today with a picture of Julie Andrews herself from the film Sound of music
Nice day
Some froggies (french people) came in today with job applications, I spoke french to them and that was fun. One of the frogs will be coming in to work tomorrow to see if she is able to work with us. They semed to be nice people but their english was crap so I don't know if it's so good that they work in hospitality (service work).
The weather is great so after work I went with dear old Des to the beach and played for an hour. Good fun.
Tonight im going with aunty to chinease place for dinner, such good food there I just love it!
Yoga was lovely yesterday, mmmmmmmmmmmm love yoga. Will move to India to become Yogi in future.
Haha that last sentence looked very Bridget Jones :)
Catch you later everybody :)
I am a bad blogger
Now: Work!
